15-Factor System
The JESAP methodology uses 15 factors to determine the internal worth of a job. Here are just a few examples:

  • How much experience does the job require?
  • How much education does the job require?
  • How much supervision is required?
  • How much supervision must be given to other employees?
  • Are the working conditions safe and/or comfortable or hazardous and/or uncomfortable?

Each job, not the employee, is rated against each of the 15 factors, and points are relegated to each job based on the degree to which the position requires each factor. By assigning points to each job, you can compare the jobs internally to determine their relative worth. For years compensation professionals have recognized this methodology as the appropriate way to determine internal worth.
